How we verify listings

Chosen by evidence. Never pay-to-appear.

What is on this site

This directory lists 794 pet end-of-life providers: pet cremation, water cremation, pet cemeteries, pet funeral homes, and funeral homes that serve pet families. A business appears here because it met our standard, not because it paid us. There is no paid placement and no way to buy a badge.

What we check before a listing goes live

  • The business is operating. We check the business is open before publishing, and re-check on a quarterly cycle. Listings we find closed come down.
  • It is rated 4.0 stars or higher. We read the public Google rating and review count. Providers below 4.0 stars are not listed.
  • It actually serves pet families. We read the company’s own website to confirm the services we list, rather than assuming from a category label.

What the review themes are

We have read 18,091 individual Google reviews of the providers listed here. The themes on each listing are counts of how many of that company’s reviews mention a given thing, with a real quote from a real review beside each one. First names only, exactly as the reviewer published them.

A theme count is a count of mentions, not a rating and not a score we assign. If a company has no themes, it means we have not mined enough of its reviews yet, and the section does not render.

How we describe ownership

Every listing says whether the business is family-owned or part of a national network. We check a registry of parent companies first, matching on domain, on brand name, and on phrases that appear in the company’s own website. A registry match always wins over an automated guess.

Where the registry has nothing and our analysis of the company’s site indicates a franchise, corporate chain, private equity owner, or funeral home parent, the listing says “Part of a national network”. Where it indicates family ownership, the listing says “Family-Owned”. Where we are not confident either way, the listing says nothing at all.

What we cannot promise

We are not a licensing body and we do not inspect facilities. We have not watched a cremation take place. What we can tell you is what a business publishes about itself, what its customers have written publicly, and whether it was open when we last checked. Anything beyond that is worth asking the provider directly.

Ratings and review counts are point-in-time figures from Google and will drift between our refreshes. The verified date shown on each listing tells you when we last confirmed that listing’s data.

Who sets the standard

Standards reviewed by our team, including our Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr. Liz Cahill, DVM.

Partners

Some providers listed here use Remembrance software to serve their families. Those carry a gold Partner badge on their listing, and one of them may appear in a clearly labeled spotlight above the results on search and city pages.

Partnership never affects ratings, review analysis, or organic rankings. A spotlight is an additional labeled placement, never a reordering: the provider still appears in the position it earned in the list below, and every other provider keeps the position it earned. Ratings and review themes are mined the same way for partners and non-partners alike, and no provider can pay to change them.

Claiming your listing

If you run a business listed here, you can claim it and correct your own details: website, phone number, hours, description, and social links. Those corrections replace what we mined.

Business owner? You can correct or remove any image on your listing at any time.

Not listed yet? Get listed. It is free, and we build the profile for you.

What you cannot change is the evidence: your rating, your review count, your review themes, and the quotes families wrote. Those stay independent, which is the entire point of the directory. Sign in at app.remembrancepets.com/admin/login to get started.
