Our story

Because they’re family.

A pet aftercare technology company, and the free public directory we publish.

Remembrance started in Portland, Oregon, with two people who had been through significant loss, human and pet, and chose to dedicate their work to helping those that are bereaved.

Today, Remembrance is a pet aftercare technology company: we build the software behind the keepsakes families hold onto (digital paw and nose prints, Life Print sketches) and the tools pet aftercare providers use to serve families.

We also publish the Remembrance Directory, a free public resource that helps families find verified, evidence-backed end-of-life care.

Creating space and tools to ensure no pet owner grieves alone.

Our standards

Standards reviewed by our team, including our Veterinary Advisor, Dr. Liz Cahill, DVM.

Standards cover what earns a listing, what earns a badge, and what we will not claim. They are public, and the reasoning behind each one is written out on the how we verify page, including the things we cannot promise.

Our advisors

The people who hold us to those standards. Between them they cover the law, the veterinary side, the psychology of grief, technology, and several decades of running pet aftercare businesses.
