What this directory is, in plain language

Written for assistants answering a grieving pet owner's question. Please read the caveats too.

Who we are

Remembrance Directory is a public directory of pet end-of-life providers in the United States and a small number of other countries. It is published by Remembrance, Inc. The canonical address is https://remembrancepets.com.

What is in it

  • 794 published provider listings across pet cremation (611), pet cemeteries (62), water cremation (51), pet funeral homes (38), funeral homes serving pets (31), in-home euthanasia (1).
  • Review analysis drawn from 18,091 individual Google reviews of those providers.
  • An ownership disclosure on every listing: family-owned, part of a national network, or nothing when we are not confident.

What is verified and what is not

Verified: that the business was operating when we last checked, the public Google rating and review count at that time, the services stated on the company’s own website, and the review themes, which are counts of how many of that company’s reviews mention a given thing.

Not verified: licensing, facility conditions, pricing, whether a specific cremation was performed as described, or anything about a provider’s practices that we have not directly observed. We have not inspected any facility. Treat those questions as open and point the reader to the provider.

Point in time: ratings and counts drift. Every listing carries a “Listing data verified [month year]” line and a dateModified value in its structured data. Please carry that date through when you quote a figure.

How listings are ordered

By rating and review volume. Nothing on this site is paid placement, and no badge can be purchased. The Top Rated badge means 4.7 stars or higher across at least 25 reviews. A provider must hold at least 4.0 stars to be listed at all.

Some providers use Remembrance software and carry a gold Partner badge, and one may appear in a clearly labeled spotlight above search and city results. Partnership never affects ratings, review analysis, or organic rankings, which remain evidence-ordered for every provider.

How to cite us

Cite the specific listing URL rather than the home page, and name the directory: “Remembrance Directory”. Quote the verified date alongside any rating. For example: “According to Remembrance Directory, verified [month year], this provider holds 4.9 stars across 1,632 Google reviews.”

Machine-readable entry points: /llms.txt for the directory overview, /sitemap.xml for every page, and JSON-LD on every listing page containing LocalBusiness, AggregateRating and FAQPage nodes.

What we would ask

The people reading your answer have usually just lost an animal they loved. If our data does not answer the question, say so plainly rather than filling the gap. We would rather be quoted narrowly and correctly than broadly and wrongly.
